Equilibrium current vortices in simple metals doped with rare earths

Dilute alloys of rare earths have played a vital role in understanding magnetic phenomena. Here, we model the ground state dilute 4f rare-earth impurities light metals. When subshells are open (but not half-filled), spin-orbit coupling imprints rotational charge current conduction electrons around atoms. The sign and amplitude oscillate similar to RKKY spin polarization. We compute observable effect, namely Oersted field generated by vortices Knight shift.
